Do the narrowing in advance. Let the student do the choosing.
Finding a good piece is easy. Finding the perfect piece for every student, twenty-five times over, the night before the week starts, is not. That is how a strong student ends up with a safe piece and no real sense of where any of it is going.
A ClefRoom curriculum holds the shape of a year — some technique, something Baroque, something lyrical, a study, and a piece they choose. You write that shape once, and the titles underneath it change student by student.
