What this is
A two-page printable. Page one is the weekly sheet you fill in during the lesson and send home. Page two is the reference you will use three times a year.
Page one: the weekly sheet
One focus for the week, because three focuses means none of them. What to practise, with a box for each day. A place for the recordings, page numbers and links they should not have to hunt for. And teacher notes at the bottom, written on the day rather than reconstructed in November.
Page two: three notes a year to parents
A parent who does not read music has one available measure of progress, and it is whether the piece sounds like a song. Three short notes hand them a better one: the September note that sets the measure, the mid-term note that shows change instead of activity, and the pre-recital note that connects it to what they are about to hear. Each comes with a real example and a fill-in template.
How to use it
Print the first page per student, per week. Keep the second page in the front of your binder and put its three dates in your calendar once, in August. Neither page needs any software to work.
Print it, fill it in, hand it over. Yours free, for as many students as you teach.
